To create our classically balanced and concentrated style of Merlot, we start with fruit harvested from a vineyard in Coombsville, just south and east of our Napa winery. Wind and fog from the San Pablo bay ensure cool evenings and mornings, which usually evolve into warm and sunny days. Volcanic debris and remnants of lava flows are hallmarks of the soil in this area, known for its bright and intense Merlot and Cabernet fruit. The intense, dark fruit and herbal-spice attributes of this wine are enhanced with bold and flavorful dishes such as lamb shanks slowly simmered with fresh rosemary, garlic, tomatoes, and red wine.
