Marinated Sirloin - Grilled
INGREDIENTS:
1 to 1 and ½ Lb. sirloin steak sliced ¾ inch thick
½ cup soy sauce
2 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
2 finely chopped garlic cloves
1/3 cup red wine (preferably, Burke’s Blazing Barbecue Zinfandel)
2 Tbsp. cracked black pepper
INSTRUCTIONS:
Combine marinade ingredients with sliced steak in large sealable plastic bag. Seal and refrigerate at least 1 hour. I prefer the overnight method. Remove steak from marinade and discard remaining sauce. If using gas, preheat your grill on high temp for 10 minutes. For charcoal grills make sure the coals are gray with ash and you can hold your hand over the coals for 3 to 5 seconds. On a gas grill, turn heat down to medium and place sirloin in center of grill. Cook for 3-5 minutes then turn. Flip and cook for about another 4 minutes for medium.
On a charcoal grill, place the sirloin over the coals for about 1-2 minutes then turn for about the same amount of time. Then use the indirect method, away from the coals to reach your preferred doneness…
The combination of the salt in the soy sauce and the cracked pepper make this the perfect pairing for the Burkes Blazing Barbecue, 2007 Alexander Valley Zinfandel! YUM!
