The well-drained soil of the Masri Vineyard is a combination of gravel, sand and loam, layered with volcanic deposits, making it ideal for growing cabernet. The vineyards found in Rutherford experience morning fog in the lowlands, warm summer days with peaks in the mid-90s, and cooling breezes from the San Pablo Bay. Each year we learn a little more about which winemaking practices and cooperage choices will coax out the most terroir-spcific varietal expression from this very special vineyard. Intensity and balance is the goal, and in 2013 it was fuly achieved!
